Entrusting a writing coach to help you with your manuscript or idea, takes guts. But what will the benefits be? You will work with someone who will intimately understands your goal, ask the questions that drive you to dig deep, and encourage you to persist until the very end. As your writing coach, I will hold a space for you.
BEN (59) IS IN A FLAT SPIN
“I am 59 years old. I have a lot of experience in my field. Why is it so hard to recall and write my story? What comes first? Why doesn’t my storyline make sense?”
Ben* is an engineer who had a particularly challenging childhood. He managed to survive and excel against all odds, and wants to share his story with young engineers, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs.
“Ben, let’s talk about it. You are already halfway there. Precisely when you’re stuck, confused, and ready for some writing guidance, it is a step in the right direction,” answers the coach.
What Ben needs is a good in-depth discussion of his manuscript, concentrating on the motivation to write his story, the structure of his book and the physical process.
A coach assists in both the creative part of the writing journey, as well as the editing and polishing of a manuscript.
A realistic outcome to expect from a coach is to help you navigate roadblocks and guide you in your writing journey, helping you expand and improve your skills along the way.
WHAT DOES TAYLOR SHERIDAN HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?
Let me answer it this way. I am a big admirer of the work of Taylor Sheridan.
He is the creator of “Yellowstone” and other shows and is part owner of the historic 6666 (Four Sixes) Ranch in Texas. He purchased the ranch, along with a group of investors, in December 2020. The ranch, which spans over 266,000 acres, is known for its history, quarter horses, and cattle operations. It also serves as a filming location and inspiration for Sheridan’s work, including a “Yellowstone” spin-off series also titled “6666”.
Sheridan inspires with his unique storytelling abilities, his focus on historical and social issues and his incredible work ethic.
This gave me an idea:
CCC – THREE C’S FOR WRITING COACHES
Clarity, Communication, and Commitment
The 3 C’s of coaching are Clarity, Communication, and Commitment. Clarity ensures that both the coach and the mentee understand the goals, expectations, and purpose of the coaching framework. Communication is key for building trust, delivering feedback, and encouraging open, honest dialogue.
Coaching is not a perfect science. It’s a way to offer advice, insight, and perspective.
CCCC – FOUR C’S FOR WRITERS
Clear, Concise, Correct, Compelling
A writing coach offers significant value by providing tailored guidance, accountability, and support to help writers of all levels improve their craft and achieve their writing goals. They go beyond basic editing to help writers develop stronger writing processes, identify and overcome challenges, and build confidence.
